02. Branding project

In this project I’m trying to create a poster for an International Trade Fair and my audiences are people who are visiting the agricultural exporting section. I’m showing in this poster a mass of pistachio and a nice package of pistachio in a same place. The purpose is showing the difference between exporting a product in a large amount and unpackaged form and nice packages of that product. The reason I’m trying to convey this concept to my audience is because many producer countries export their productions without processing and sorting, in large quantities. For instance, my country is the first producer of pistachio in the world but unfortunately, it sells this product mostly in large quantities rather than in packaged format. As a result, it loses a lot of potential benefits in this way.  That’s why I want to encourage my audience to think about the importance of packaging industry. I wrote a phrase about this concept on the poster but I believe it is not a perfect choice. I'd be glad to know your suggestions.
(this is not a nice image of my work. I don't have it now and I'm just using it's photo)

01.Postcard Project (Design Foundation)

In this project we were suppose to make a postcard for the category which has been assigned for us. The postcard should reflect the style of the object and its essential features.
Under the "fruit and vegetables" category, I chose pistachio for working with. Actually, I had two concern for choosing this fruit which by the way is considered as nut. first, this is my favorite nut and I also like it when it can be found fresh during spring time. Second, this is one of the product which my country is known as a first producer and exporter.

For this project I was thinking about showing the features of pistachio by using real images or actual part of this fruit. My purpose was to show the basic quality of this product, what it looks like and how it can be consumed.
I supposed that some of my audiences might not be familiar with this fruit. So, I used the real pistachio to show the exterior part and painted its inside with the closest color I thought it looks like. I have some more information about this fruit for next project.

Inspiration

I had a great time surfing different web sites and looking other's works. It is really helpful when you see how people can think in different ways, how they use their creativity and imagination power and, how finally they put things together. In my opinion, the most interesting part in art and design realms is getting inspiration from various sources, think about it differently and, develop a new idea with your own creativity. You may go to museums and see master pieces or you may walk in the street and get ideas from regular daily issues or objects. It is all about observing differently, pondering passionately and looking for solutions.

I was impressed from several weblogs more than others. One of them was Book Covers blog (http://covers.fwis.com/ ). It is a graphic design organization which designs book covers according to their clients desires. It was so interesting for me to see different book covers with fascinating designs. It happened for me to close the book I'm reading and check the cover and title again, think about it and then keep on reading. I think in designing world, it is so crucial to consider the purpose and  evaluate the functionality. I'm not expert in book covers designing but, I can say in this case, a good design should have different features: it should attract people in first look, it should reflect the concept of the book, it can be simple or not and generally many things should be considered. This blog has great samples and according to my personal interests and observations, I found it interesting.
Above is one of the book covers designed by Christopher Sergio.  "Type-only book covers can be hit and miss for me but this one had me standing in the store turning the book in circles reading the black letter quotes about Germans for a few minutes. My favorite part of this cover is the fact that neither the author's name or the title are on it, you have to flip to the spine. Which you gladly do when holding this massive book. This cover is massive, engaging and interesting and it speaks to the content well", Christopher said.
